Loren David Glaus
Loren David Glaus, age 79 of Plum City, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.
Loren was born on April 4, 1936 in Plum City, the son of LaVerle Glaus Black. He was lovingly raised by LaVerle, Allen and Christie Glaus. He attended St. John the Baptist Catholic School and graduated from Plum City High School in 1954. After graduation, Loren enlisted in the U.S. Air Force on October 11, 1954. He was a Korean War Veteran and received a Medal of Good Conduct upon his honorable discharge in 1958.
Loren married Arlene Chilson on February 13, 1960. They lived for a short time in St. Paul, MN, before moving back to Plum City, where they have remained their entire married life and raised their baseball team-sized family of nine children. He worked as a union carpenter in the Twin Cities area until his retirement. Loren also held the titles of Plum City Fire Chief and Cub Scoutmaster for Pack 134.
Loren is survived by his wife of 55 years, Arlene; daughters Nancy (Randy) Erickson of Stockholm, Debbie (Rod) Radle of Plum City, Cindy Glaus of Chippewa Falls, Julie (Jim) Myer of Plum City, Mary (Pete) Olson of Pepin, Erin (Nick) Gaul of Culver City, CA, and sons Bob and John Glaus of Plum City. Grandchildren Brandon (Cortney) Glaus of Elk Mound, Travis & Ryan Erickson, Logan, Lawton & Lexie Radle, Cody & Brady Myer, Brody & Jackie Olson, and Ben & Malina Glaus; great grandchildren Jaxon & Maxwell Glaus; siblings Bonnie (DuWayne) Flynn of Plum City, Rita (Denny) Oberding of Baton Rouge, LA, and Jim (Marie) Glaus of Plum City; many other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, daughter Shelley Glaus-Lehman, and siblings Don, Leslie, Duane and Lyle Glaus, Elaine Aitken, and Maxine Poeschel.
Loren enjoyed gardening, hunting, going to auctions, raising his dogs, feeding and watching the birds, ice fishing with the kids, but most of all cruising around town and visiting with his favorite buddies. He liked to collect coins, marbles, bells and wind chimes. Loren loved spending time with family and friends and always had a good joke or story to share.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Plum City. Father Kevin Louis, STL will officiate. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with military honors provided by American Legion Post 365.
Friends may call from 9:00 to 11:00 AM prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
