Eugene A. Frank

Eugene A. Frank age 88 of Menomonie, died Tuesday April 21, 2015 at The Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie.

Eugene was born January 15, 1927 in the Township of Menomonie to George and Tena (Finder) Frank.  He attended Evergreen Valley Grade School in the Township of Menomonie.  Eugene worked on the neighbor’s farms until he was 18. He the enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1945 and was stationed in Japan.  He received his discharge and then enlisted in the U.S. Marine Reserve.  Eugene worked for Chuck Groepper, transporting livestock until he went into partnership with Maurice Howe, hauling milk.  In 1950 the Marine Reserve was called into action and he served in Korea for a year.  In 1952 he married Evelyn Denning.  Eugene sold his share of the milk hauling business back to Maurice Howe and started transporting cars and freight.  Eugene and Evelyn purchased a farm while he also worked for Lehman & Larson Distributors, eventually going to 3M in Menomonie from where he retired.

Eugene is survived by his six children, Linda Holden, Harold (Linda) Frank, Carol Ann Solberg (Joe Schmidt), Neil (LouAnn) Frank, David & Julie Frank, and a special nephew, Robert (Kaye) Harrison; eight grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren; a brother, Richard (Nancy) Frank, a sister Arlene (Don) Eiseth and a sister-in-law, Ethel Frank.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Evelyn in 2013, a sister, Marion (Vernon) Strand, two brothers, Gerald & James (Kathy); sister-in-law, Corinne (Hoie) Harrison.

The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to the staff at The Neighbors of Dunn County for their warm, attentive, caring attention for Dad.  Also all the doctors and nurses at HSHS Sacred Heart Hospital and Marshfield Clinic for their understanding and care during Dad’s difficult times.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM Saturday April 25, 2015 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie with Rev. John Mano officiating.  Military honors will be provided by the Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard.  Lunch will immediately follow the services at Dean & Sue’s, 2002 Midway Rd. in Menomonie. Burial will be at a later date in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.

    Gene was the most kind and caring man. He will be missed by many children, grand-children, step grand-children, great's and so on. He took me and my family in as his own from the beginning and my fondest memories are of family gatherings at the Frank's for Holiday's ( you've never seen so many kids in and out of the house in one day!). All who came were always family.
