Blanche R. Prissel
Blanche R. Prissel entered eternal life on Friday, March 13, 2015. Blanche was born February 11, 1925 to John and Anna Weiss on their farm in the Town of Lima. She was one of six children who helped their parents on the family farm. Blanche graduated from Holy Rosary Catholic High School near Durand. She met the love of her life, Joseph J. Prissel, at LBJ’s where she taught him how to dance. They married on May 15, 1945 and enjoyed 63 years together. Joseph and Blanche started farming in 1945, in 1947 they started Prissel Auto and Implement in Town of Maxville. They sold and serviced Chrysler and Dodge Autos and Oliver Tractors and Machinery. Blanche spent many years helping Joe with farming and raising her family. She worked at Gamble’s part time for many years and eventually she went to work for the Pepin County Highway Department as a bookkeeper. Blanche was very active in St. Mary’s Parish, the Altar & Rosary Society, Woods Corner 4-H Club and the American Cancer Society. After Blanche retired from the highway department she spent her days enjoying time with family and friends, gardening, traveling, and dancing with Joe.
Blanche is survived by her children, Stephen (Barb) Prissel of Ripon, David (Sharon) Prissel of Baldwin, Judith Prissel of Port Hueneme, CA, Pamela (Rod) Weiss of Marshfield, Joseph (Kim) Prissel III of Stratford, N.J., Melissa (Jody) Buhr of Clear Lake, two brothers, Hubert (Marge) Weiss and John (Calista) Weiss, both of Durand, four sisters in law, Margaret (Harold) Poeschel of Boyceville, Thelma (Charles) Caturia of Menomonie, Edith Prissel and Goldie Weiss, both of Durand, 16 grandchildren, Angela (Matt) Becker of Oshkosh, Benjamin (Lisa) Prissel of Oshkosh, Ann Oberding of Eau Claire, David (Jessie) Prissel of Hudson, Jennifer (Darsen) Prissel of Portland, OR, Josh (Eve) Cross of Ventura, CA and Riley Cross of Port Hueneme, CA, Justin (Bernie) Weiss of Eagle, Eric (Rachel) Weiss of Watertown, Adam (Jami) Weiss of Atlanta, GA, John Weiss of Washington D.C., Melissa Klamrowski of Westville, NJ, Joseph Prissel IV and Savanna Prissel of Stratford, NJ, Hannah and William Fitzer, of Clear Lake, 22 great grandchildren, Alexus Berndt, Riley Becker, August and Leo Prissel, Matt, Kyle and Nicholas Oberding, Ava Prissel, Tate Prissel, Christopher, Austin and Tressa Weiss, Gavin, Asher, and Laiken Weiss, Judah Paris, Teghan Paris, Tristin, Tucker and Toree McGee, Delaney, Deslyn Peterson.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe, parents, two sisters, Marian Weissinger and Marcella Weber, one brother, Edmond Weiss, five brother in laws, Wilfred, Leonard, Francis, August Prissel and Frank Weber, daughter-in-law, Ruth Prissel and grandson-in-law, George Oberding.
A Funeral Mass will be held 11:30 AM Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand. Rev. Paul Bosco will officiate. Burial will be in the Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery-Lima. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
