Tom E. Mountin
Tom E. Mountin age 49, of Red Wing, formerly of Elmwood died Monday January 26, 2015 at the Red Wing Health Care Center in Red Wing, MN.
Tom was born January 9, 1966 in Red Wing, MN. He was the son of LaMoine and Dorothy (Langer) Mountin and grew up in the Elmwood area. He graduated from Elmwood High School in 1984 where he was active in sports and was recognized for setting several national and state records in football; for career pass attempts, and career pass completions. After high school, Tom went to work in the family business, Mountin Construction until ill health with Huntington’s Disease, which forced his early retirement. For the past eight years Tom has been a resident of the Red Wing Health Care Center.
Tom enjoyed riding his cycle, playing cards, and spending summer weekends at Balsam Lake with family friends.
Tom is survived by his mother, Dorothy Mountin of Elmwood, two sisters, Jeanne Mountin of Red Wing, MN, Julie (Jerry) Hannack of Elmwood, a brother Jeff (Torrie) Mountin of Lake Mills, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, a brother, Larry and a nephew David Mountin.
Memorial services will be 11:00 AM Friday January 30, 2015 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Elmwood with Rev. Nathan Thainase officiating. Burial will be at a later date at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery-El Paso, Township of El Paso, Pierce County.
Visitation will be from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the church on Friday. Extended visitation will continue immediatley after the services as needed.
