Norman A. "Corky" Weiss
Norman A. “Corky” Weiss age 88 of Durand, died Wednesday, December 24, 2014 at the Oakview Care Center in Durand.
Corky was born on July 17, 1926 in Durand. He was the son of Leo and Amy (Bauer) Weiss. Corky grew up in the Durand area. He married Mary Lou Severson on April 22, 1950 at St. Mary’s Church in Durand. After marriage, they made their home in Durand and Corky went to work for Bauer Built. Corky worked at Bauer Built in Durand for 53 years, retiring at 2006.
Corky enjoyed spending time at his cabin up north, hunting, fishing, campfires and mowing the lawn. He and Mary Lou took many trips to the casinos with their gambling partners; Paul and Carol Fedie and Gary and Donna Gates. Most of all, Corky loved to spend time with family and friends.
Corky is survived by his wife of 64 years; Mary Lou, two sons; Mike (Vicki) and Mark (Karen), both of Durand, seven grandchildren; Casey (Eric), Amy (Mike), Tony (Jen), Paul (Kelly), Tom (Lacie), Brian (Tessa) and Mariah, nine great grandchildren; Evan, Kennedy, Katelyn, Eric, Jaden, Camden, Bryce, Tori and Gabe, two brothers; Gil (Doris) of Durand and Larry of Milwaukee, two sisters; Dolly Bauer of Eau Claire and Darlene Bryan of Durand, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one daughter; Mary Sue Harmon, two brothers; Jerry and Vernie and one sister; Lorena Brantner.
Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 AM Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand. Rev. Eric Linzmaier will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand. There will be no visitation prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
