Colleen A Smith

Colleen A. Smith age 67 of Menomonie, died Tuesday December 16, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic Health System-Chippewa Valley in Bloomer after a long struggle with cancer.

Colleen was born May 11, 1947 in St. Paul, MN and grew up in North St. Paul.  She was the daughter of Paul and Martha (Altman) Dawson.  Colleen graduated from North St. Paul High School in 1965.  She began working for Minnesota Mutual Insurance Company in downtown St. Paul.  Colleen married Jim Smith July 27, 1968 in North St. Paul.  After marriage they moved to the Menomonie area and raised their family.  Later when the children were older, Colleen worked at 3M and later Fleet Farm, both in Menomonie.

Colleen enjoyed spending time with her family.  She had a love of gardening, flowers, baking and playing golf.

Colleen is survived by her husband Jim, a daughter Lori (Jeff) Geissler of Chippewa Falls; three grandsons, Drew (Megan) Wieser of Glen Carbon, IL; Gentry Geissler of Eau Claire; Finnegan Smith of Savage, MN; a granddaughter, Piper Smith of Savage; a great grandson, AJ Wieser of Glen Carbon, IL; a daughter-in-law, Kiernan Smith of Savage, MN; two sisters, Diane (Bill) Ford of St. Paul, MN; Mickie (Rick) Coe of Bemidji, MN; three brothers, Richard (Jan) Dawson of North St. Paul, MN; Garry (Lyn) Dawson and Joe (Trudy) Dawson both of White Bear Lake, MN, several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a beloved son, Rob; an identical twin sister, Eileen Payett.

Memorial services will be 1:00 PM Tuesday December 23, 2014 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie with Rev. John Mano officiating.  Visitation will one hour prior to the services at the funeral home.

The family would like thank the Bloomer medical staff for the wonderful loving care given to Colleen.

    I am sorry for your loss. I remember going to Colleen and Jim's house and cooking steaks on the grill and there was fresh homemade chocolate chip cookies. Everyone is in my thoughts and prayers. .
