Joseph J. Prissel, age 83 of Durand,

Died: June 9, 2008 at Angelspace Hospice in Eau Claire.
Joseph was the son of August and Mary (Schlosser) Prissel. He was born in Durand attended Durand Schools and graduated from Durand High School in 1942. Joseph married Blanche Weiss May 15, 1945 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church-Lima, rural Durand. They were blessed with six children.
Joseph and Blanche started farming in 1945, in 1949 they started Prissel Auto and Implement in Maxville Prairie. They sold and serviced Chrysler and Dodge Autos and Oliver Tractors and Machinery. Joseph loved farming at their rural Durand farm on Hwy 10. He enjoyed his horse Buckie and his Model T. He was active as a 4-H Project Leader in Pepin County. Joseph was a member of the Knights of Columbus obtaining his 4th Degree as a member of Durand Council #2422.
Joseph served as Town of Durand treasurer for 28 years 1965-1993. He also worked for the Durand Creamery and the Safeway Store Milk Powder Plant in Durand where he operated the milk instantizer.
Joseph is survived by his wife Blanche, six children, Stephen (Barbara) of Ripon, David of Durand, Judith Cross of Ventura, CA, Pamela (Rodney) Weiss of Marshfield, Joseph J. Prissel III of Stratford, NJ, Melissa (Jody) Buhr of Clear Lake, two sisters, Margaret (Harold) Poeschel of Boyceville, Thelma (Charles) Caturia of Menomonie, one brother Francis (Edith) of Durand, 16 grandchildren, Angel Prissel of Pickett, Benjamin (Lisa) Prissel of Oshkosh, Ann (George) Oberding of Durand, David (Jessie) Prissel of Hudson, Jennifer (Darin) Prissel-Campbell of Tucson, AZ, Josh and Riley Cross of Ventura, CA, Justin (Bernie) Weiss of Eagle, Eric (Rachel) Weiss of Watertown, Adam Weiss of Ghana, Africa, Johnny Weiss of Marshfield, Melissa (Nick) Paris of New Jersey, Joseph Prissel IV and Savannah Prissel of New Jersey, Hannah and William Fitzer, of Clear Lake, 10 great grandchildren, Alexus Berndt of Ripon, Matt, Kyle and Nicholas Oberding of Durand, Ava Prissel of Hudson, Christopher, Austin and Tressa Weiss of Eagle, Gavin and Asher Weiss of Watertown. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Theresa Prissel, three brothers, August Jr., Leonard and Wilfred, daughter-in-law, Ruth Prissel, two sisters-in-law, Marian Weissinger and Marcella Weber.
