Lorraine M. Brunner Patnode
Lorraine M. Brunner Patnode, age 85 of Arkansaw, died peacefully Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City.
Lorraine was born on August 5, 1929 at home in the Town of Eau Galle, rural Dunn County. She was the daughter of Wendlin and Arcella (Simonson) Wolf. Lorraine grew up in the Eau Galle area and graduated from the Durand High School. She married Raymond J. Brunner on May 20, 1952 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. After marriage they settled in the Arkansaw Area where they farmed and raised their family. They lived on the farm until 1984 when their son, Bryan took over. Ray passed away in 1998 and Lorraine moved into the City of Durand. She married Warren Patnode on May 10, 2003 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw. After marriage, they continued living in the Durand area until her illness forced her into the Plum City Care Center, where she remained the rest of her life.
Lorraine enjoyed crocheting, knitting and going to thrift sales. She was a board member for the Pepin County Human Services Dept. for many years. Lorraine volunteered many years for Farmer’s Union coordinating youth activities and lobbying, taking many trips to Madison, Colorado and Washington D.C. She liked playing cards and going camping. Most of all Lorraine loved to spend time with family and friends.
Lorraine is survived by her husband; Warren, seven children; Patricia Novak of Cottage Grove, MN, Gary (Laurie) Brunner of Menomonie, Julie (John) Anibas of Elmwood, Mary Jane Duke of Cadott, Bryan (Theresa) Brunner of Arkansaw, Robert Brunner of Minneapolis and Polly (Pat) Beyerl of Eau Claire, four step-children; Marie Erickson of Pepin, Wayne (Anita) Patnode of Arkansaw, Bruce (Mary) Patnode of Arkansaw and Dwight (Sheila) Patnode of Sheboygan, 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, one great great grandson, 8 step-grandchildren, one brother; Wendlin (Winnie) Wolf Jr. of Menomonie, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Ray, three children; Marie Brunner, Charles and Timothy Brunner and two sons-in-law; Jack Novak and Claude Duke.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw with Rev. Paul G. Czerwonka officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Monday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
