Genevieve M. "Jenny" Hayden
Genevieve Marie “Jenny” Hayden, age 86 of Durand, died Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand with her family by her side.
Jenny was born on January 3, 1928 on the Brunner home farm in the Town of Lima, rural Durand. She was the daughter of Matthew and Julia (Prissel) Brunner. Jenny grew up in the Lima area and graduated from Sacred Heart High School in Lima. Shortly after high school, Jenny married William R. Hayden on April 14, 1948 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima. After marriage, Jenny and Bill made their home in Durand, where they raised their family. Jenny worked at the Village Inn Café and also at the Spot Bar. Bill passed away in 1982. In 1992, Jenny moved into the senior housing in Durand where she remained the rest of her life.
Jenny was a member of the Maria Missions, a member of St. Mary’s Church, the Rosary and Altar Society and enjoyed singing in the choir. She sang in the choir until her health forced her to retire. Jenny loved baking and cooking. Most of all, Jenny loved spending time with family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Jenny is survived by her children; David (Barbara “Boots”), Susan (Lyle) Lardahl, Donald (Val) and Dennis (Kayleen), all of Durand, five granddaughters; Nicole (Neal), Sheri (Tony), Amber (Scott), Kristen (Brent) and Amy (Andy), seven great grandchildren; Avery, Eden, Bailey, Benjamin, Joelle, Nolan and Baby Weber, one sister-in-law; Rheta Brunner of Durand, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Bill, one son; Allen in infancy, three sisters; Sister Innocentia Brunner, Gertie and Josephine, seven brothers; Matt, Lawrence, Tony, Amandus, Bill, Francis and Cyril.
Funeral Services will be 11:30 AM Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand. Rev. Eric Linzmaier will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
