Marie M. Harrigan
Marie M. Harrigan, age 89 recently a resident of the Plum City Care Center, and formerly of Eau Galle died August 25, 2014. She was born May 1, 1925 in the town of Canton, rural Buffalo Co. Marie was the second child of Joseph and Rose (Berger) Ableidinger. After attending Tiffany School and Lima she worked at various places including the Diet kitchen at Sacred Heart Hospital and Samuelson's both in Eau Claire.
Marie married Wayne Harrigan Oct. 21, 1967 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima. Together they farmed in Eau Galle for 33 years until selling their farm in 2000. The Century Farm was in the Harrigan family for over 100 years. Marie and Wayne received three Century awards. One from the Diocese of LaCrosse from Bishop Burke in 1995, the other two in 1998, one from Milwaukee and one from Dunn County.
The survivors include two sisters, Helen (Stephen) Steinmetz of Eau Claire, and Fran (Jim) Otto of Janesville. A brother-in-law, Clem Falch of Chippewa Falls. Marie is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Marie was preceded in death by her husband Wayne, her parents Joseph and Rose Ableidinger, a sister Anne Falch, and a brother William Ableidinger.
Marie enjoyed playing cards, visiting with people in person and over the phone, writing memories, letter writing, entertaining relatives and friends and baking.
The family would like to extend a huge hug and thank you to all of her Plum City Care Center Family. The Plum City Care Center will always hold a special place in our hearts as well as that of Marie and Wayne.
Also a special Thank You and Hugs to Mike and Pam Baier for always being there for Wayne and Marie when we could not.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at St Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the church on Tuesday.
