Evelyn I. "Ivy" Collins
Evelyn “Ivy” (Iverson) Collins, age 92 of Plum City, died Monday, August 25, 2014 at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City.
Ivy was born Carl and Hannah (Olson) Iverson in the family farmhouse located in the Plum City area. Dr. O.H. Anderson delivered her on November 18, 1921. Ivy attended Plum City schools, and graduated with 21 classmates in 1939.
From Plum City, Ivy moved to Eau Claire where she attended business college. She roomed with a friend, Alice Sokup, who would later become her cousin through marriage to Art Sax.
Ivy married the love of her life, Gene Waldvogel, while he was in the service. They lived at various Air Force bases in the United States. After his discharge, they settled in Angola, Indiana. Ivy worked for the Frank G. Hough Company.
Ivy and her husband later divorced and after some time, Ivy married Art Collins. They had one daughter, Joan, and moved to Fort Lauderdale, FL in 1967. Art died of a heart attack in 1978. While in Ft. Lauderdale, Ivy worked for NCR for 20 years. She continued to live in her house on the Middle River for 42 years before returning to Plum City. In July of 2010, Ivy became a resident of the Plum City Care Center where she received loving care from staff and residents the rest of her life.
She is preceeded in death by her daughter Joan, father Carl, mother Hannah, brother Alvin Iverson, sister-in-law Grace Caturia Iverson.
Ivy is survived by daughter Janice Leach Davila, nieces and nephews: Linda (Lloyd) Perry, Arlene (John) Gallas, Nancy (John) Bergum, Dennis Iverson, Roger (Le Ann) Iverson, Lori (Biju) Kewalram, cousin Mae Olson, cousins wife Alice Sax and many great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Lund Covenant Mission Church with wake one hour before. Ivy will be interred in the church cemetery next to her daughter Joan.
