Phyllis E. Heffernan

Phyllis E. Hefernan, age 86 of Rock Falls, died Monday, June 2, 2014 at her home in Rock Falls.

Phyllis was born in rural Augusta to Arthur and Elise (Goede) Honadel on March 27, 1928. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church-Bears Grass, rural Augusta by Rev. Otto List. Phyllis graduated from Augusta High School in 1945 and attended Eau Claire Teacher’s College for one year and then worked at U.S. Rubber (Uniroyal) in the office for seven years. She married Patrick E. Heffernan in Eau Claire on September 27, 1952. They resided in Rock Falls all of their married lives. Pat passed away January 6, 1997.

They bowled in leagues in Eau Claire and Club 10 in Durand for many years. They did a lot of traveling to all 50 states, all the provinces of Canada and Mexico.

Phyllis is survived by her two sons; Thomas (Ruth) of De Pere and Timothy (Barb) of Durand, two grandsons; Mark (Melissa) of Green Bay and Jacob of Durand, one great granddaughter; Keria of Green Bay, one sister; Darlene (Bill) Masters of Rosemount, MN, one nephew; Andrew (Kristina) Masters, two nieces; Barbara (Gary) Armstrong and Cyndi (Frank) Boone, two great nephews: Joel and Johan, one great niece; Lindsay, one great great nephew; Parker, one sister-in-law; Betty Stabenow of Eau Claire, one aunt; Hazel McLeod of Eau Claire, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband; Pat.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, June 6, 2014 at St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Eau Claire. Rev. Steven Rutter will officiate. Burial will be in the Rock Falls Cemetery in Rock Falls. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

I fondly remember bowling with Pat and Phyllis in the Mixed Couples League on Saturday nights at Club 10. Those were the days.My dad and mom are gone now, too. Time just passes by so quickly.     Phyllis and I were college friends in 1945-46. Fifty years later I returned to Eau Claire and we again met. We attended many plays together in Eau Claire and Menomonie. I am sorry for your loss.
