Kenneth F Algiers
Kenneth F. Algiers age 83 of Menomonie, died Monday May 12, 2014 at his home in the Township of Sherman, Dunn County, rural Menomonie.
Ken was born October 7, 1930 on the home farm in the Township of Sherman, Dunn County. He was the son of Charles and Gertrude (Adams) Algiers, and grew up in the community, attending country school just across the road. Ken graduated from Menomonie High School. Ken helped his father on the home farm and also worked construction in the area. Ken married Jeanene Ranke October 27, 1956 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie. Ken purchased a farm just up the road from his parents and continued working construction and later farmed full time until he retired.
Ken enjoyed going to auctions, collecting John Deere tractors, but mostly enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren.
Ken is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jeanene; two children, Debra (James) Vicknair Jr. of Menomonie; Kevin (Deborah) of Coon Rapids, MN; four grandchildren, Megan, AJ, Ross and Eric; two sisters, Eileen Litka of Jackson, MI; Kaye Malean of Hudson; one brother, Joseph (Peggy) of Glendale, CA; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers-in-law, Raymond Litka and Jimmie Malean.
Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Friday May 16, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie with Rev. Thomas Krieg officiating.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie and also one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
