Gordon Ralph Saueressig
Gordon Ralph Saueressig, age 89 of Plum City, Wisconsin was called home on May 3, 2014. Gordon was born in the South bedroom of the family farm house January 24, 1925. His parents were Ralph and Grace (Milliren) Saueressig. Gordon grew up on the family farm in the Plum City area. He attended Lincoln Grade School and graduated from the Ellsworth High School in 1943. On June 11, 1949 he married the love of his life Janice Radkey. They were blessed with 6 children; Vicki Saueressig, Kristine (Brian) Ingli, Bradley (Gail) Saueressig, Gregory (Nancy) Saueressig, David (Sherrie) Saueressig, and Jeffrey (Jina) Saueressig. Gordon farmed with his father after graduating from high school and took over after his father's death in 1950. During his 30 years farming, he became a self-made veterinarian, carpenter, mechanic, accountant and much, much, more. In addition to being a steward of the land he was an active member of the ONO United Methodist Church as a choir member, board member and all around repairman for both the church and parsonage. Gordon belonged to a local investment club, the Farmer's Union, and was also a 50-year member of the Masonic Lodge.
Following his retirement from farming, Gordon's next big adventure landed him at the Pierce County Human Service Department delivering meals on wheels, stocking the food pantry and was the "big cheese" while managing the county commodity program. Many friendships were formed during this time.
Gordon loved to travel with his wife, family and friends. One of his favorite trips took him to Germany, the country of his ancestors. Italy, Alaska, Hawaii, Jamaica, and many other places throughout the United States and abroad were also visited.
Gordon is survived by his wife Janice, three sisters; Bernice Zimmerman, Irma (Wallace) Lindholm and LaVerna (John) Meyer, his 6 children, their spouses, 16 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law Lyle Zimmerman.
