Shirley M Reitz
Shirley M. Reitz, age 77 of Durand, formerly of Eau Galle, passed away on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire with her family by her side.
Shirley was born on December 3, 1936 in Menomonie. She was the daughter of Lester and Vera (Schutz) Moe. She grew up in the Exile area of rural Elmwood, attended the Triple Hill School and graduated from Elmwood High School in 1953. Shirley worked at First State Bank in Elmwood. She married Lawrence “Larry” Reitz on November 9, 1954 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Eau Galle. After marriage, they moved to the Reitz family farm in rural Eau Galle where they farmed and raised their family. In 2000, they retired from farming and moved to the City of Durand where Shirley remained the rest of her life.
Shirley liked crossword puzzles, reading and watching the Packers, Brewers and Badgers. Every morning, Shirley would pick up her Bible and read the daily readings. Most of all, Shirley loved to spend time with family and friends.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 59 years; Larry, 10 children; David (Pam) of Elmwood, Maria (Gerry) Brantner of Eau Claire, Julie (Tom) Caturia of Prescott, Denis (Tracy Bundy) of Elmwood, Kevin (Teresa) of Elk Mound, Jamie (Janice) of Elmwood, Doris (Kurt) VanSchoonhoven of Elk Mound, Edwin (Beth Kley) of Colfax, Chris (Andrea) of DeForest, Karin (Steven) Wolf of Elk Mound, 23 grandchildren, nine step-grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, nine step-great grandchildren, one brother; Terry (Pat) Moe of Menomonie, one sister; Betty (Gordie) Amick of Madison, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents.
