Bonnie E O'Meara
Bonnie E. O’Meara age 92 of Menomonie, died Sunday January 26, 2014 at her home with family and hospice care.
Bonita Eleanor O’Meara was born to James and Nellie (Donnelly) Traynor on March 5, 1921. When she was a year and half old her father and sister died from complications of scarlet fever and pneumonia. With her sister Rochelle and brothers Donald and Willard, her mother raised them on a 160 acre farm in Gilman Township, Pierce county WI. She graduated from Olivet Elementary School, Spring Valley High School and the University of River Falls.
Bonnie served as Librarian and 6th grade teacher in the Baldwin-Woodville and Glenwood School districts for several years.
In 1940 she married Bernard Fay O'Meara. They raised 8 children, Sharon, Barry, Elise, Dan (Ann), Pat (Mary), Brian (Vickie), Michael (Jane) and Mary. There are 27 grandchildren and 35 "and counting" great grandchildren. Bonnie is also survived by a sister-in-law, Doris (Willard) and many nieces and nephews who were very loving, caring and supportive to her throughout her life.
Preceding her in death are her parents, her husband Bernard (Barney), brothers Donald and Willard, sisters Marcella, La Moine and Rochelle, grandsons John Nooney and Tim O'Meara and granddaughters Bridget Wendlandt and Elizabeth Hanson.
She was an active member of the Roman Catholic faith all her life. Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday January 30, 2014 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie with Rev. Thomas Krieg officiating. Burial will be in the El Paso Catholic Cemetery, Township of El Paso, Pierce Co. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at Rhiel Funeral Home in Menomonie and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
