Faye M Olson
Faye M. Olson, age 73 of Arkansaw, died Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems- Eau Claire, surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Faye was born on September 7, 1940 at home in Arkansaw on the Manor family farm. She was the daughter of Harold and Helen (Heit) Manor. Faye attended the Forest Vale School and graduated from Arkansaw High School in 1958. After school, Faye married her sweetheart, Roger Olson on June 21, 1958. Faye worked in the cafeteria at the Arkansaw Schools, then on to assist the Pepin County Register of Deeds for two years. She then took time off to raise her family of four children and take care of her mother, who was fighting a battle cancer. In 1976, Faye started working for the Insurance Center in Durand as customer service for 17 years. She then worked for the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand for 16 years before retiring in 2008.
Faye loved to travel and be outdoors. She also enjoyed bike riding, horseback riding or just plain walking. Faye was never one to be idle, so in retirement years, she did volunteer work for the Pepin County Senior Services as a transportation driver. Most of all Faye enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Faye is survived by her husband of 55 years, Roger, four children; Jody (Trish) of Durand, Monica (Mike) Starkey of River Falls, Randy (Cindy) of Arkansaw and Michelle (Rick) Munson of Caladonia, MN. She was fortunate enough to have 11 grandchildren and one great grandson, which she adored and was very proud of. Faye is also survived by two brothers; Robert (JoAnn) Manor of Maiden Rock and Gary Manor of St. Paul, MN, three sisters-in-law; Judy Manor of Eau Claire, Norma Smith of River Falls and Connie Manor of Minnesota, one brother-in-law; Ed Heller of Hamilton, MT, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers; James, Raymond and Daniel, one sister; Catherine Heller. May she now rest in peace with her Heavenly family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday, January 25, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw. Fr. Paul G. Czerwonka will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church in Arkansaw.
