Merlin "Bud" Canon
Merlin “Bud” D. Canon age 79 of Menomonie, died Monday September 23, 2013 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
Bud was born May 20, 1934 in Mineral Point Wisconsin. He was the son of Guy and Ethel (Cannon) Canon and grew up in that area. Bud served with the U. S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was stationed in Morocco, Germany and Texas. After the service he returned to Mineral Point where he worked in the lead mines for three years. Bud married Marlene Azzalino December 1, 1956 in Hollandale, WI. After marriage they moved to East Dubuque where Bud began working for Dubuque Packing Company until 1981. Bud then began his second career as a Chef, working for the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie, retiring in 2000.
Bud enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, the Green Bay Packers, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
While Bud passed away early day, the entire family sat with him until sunset to enjoy every minute of the last day with him.
Bud is survived by his wife Marlene of 57 years; three children, Marianne Canon of Marshall; Gerald (Sandra) of Marshall; Michael (Caitlin) of Menomonie; five grandchildren, Benjamin Runde; Sierra and Kiana Canon; Maya Canon, Xiomara Wimmer; one sister Twilla Rakow of Shullsburg; one brother, Duane Canon of Prescott, AZ; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Loretta Mau and Eleanor Peoples, a brother, Gordon Canon.
