Sr Robert M. Wegner
Robert M. Wegner, Sr. age 89 of Durand, formerly of Arkansaw, died Friday August 23, 2013 at Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand.
Bob was born December 24, 1923 in Mishicot, WI. He was the son of Joseph Claude and Catherine T. (Metz) Wegner and grew up in that area. Bob graduated from Mishicot High School. Bob enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during WWII in the Pacific Theater. After the service he met the love of his life, Ruth Bonde, and they were married March 2, 1950 in New Ulm, MN and were married for 49 years. They lived in Boyceville, Durand, Eau Galle and Arkansaw. Bob owned and operated G & W Body Shop in Arkansaw until he retired in 1988. For the past 14 years he has made his home in Durand.
Bob was an avid Packer fan. He enjoyed reading, playing golf, playing cards, and always enjoyed a good "debate".
Bob is survived by five daughters, Kathy (Evan) Erickson of LaPointe; Teresa (Michael) Weiss of Menomonie; Ruth (Fred) Diehl of Rockford, IL; Bridget (Chris) Amraen of Green Bay; Lucy (Mike) Myers of Grantsburg; five sons, Robert Jr. (Mary) Durand; Anthony (Michelle) of Carlsbad, NM; Thomas, Matthew (Tammy), and Martin (Joanne) all of Durand; 21 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a sister, Catherine Bertler of Green Bay.
He is preceded in death by his parents, a son Timothy, his wife Ruth in 1998; four brothers and one sister.
Friends may call from 3:00 to 6:00 PM Monday August 26, 2013 at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand. Private burial services will follow at St. Henry's Cemetery in Eau Galle.
