Laverne H Gerth
Laverne H. Gerth age 88 of Menomonie, died Sunday August 4, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Eau Claire.
Laverne was born May 14, 1925 in the Township of Menomonie on the home farm. He was the son of Herbert E. and Irma M.L. (Boerner) Gerth. Laverne grew up on the home farm and attended Blodgett Country School and Menomonie High School. Laverne farmed with his family and also played guitar in a country western band, which toured around the mid west and also on live country radio. Laverne married Harriet Schreiner May 22, 1952. After marriage they made their home in Menomonie and raised their family. Laverne hauled milk, worked at Sandy Lee Mfg. and retired from the University of Wisconsin-Stout. Laverne and Harriet were long time members of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonie
Laverne enjoyed listening to old time country music, spending time with his family and friends.
Laverne is survived by two daughters, Janet (Gary) Whittier of Las Vegas, NV; Jackie (Bill Richartz) Gerth and a son Danny (Kim) Gerth, both of Menomonie; five grandchildren, Tera, Charity, Shanna, Jordin and Maegan; four great grandchildren, DeVante, Mejia, Ashlee, Antonio;
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Harriet in 2009.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff and caregivers of Comforts of Home in Menomonie for their great care given to Laverne these past four years.
Private graveside services will be held on Wednesday August 7, 2013 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Menomonie with Rev. Brett Voigt officiating.
