James J Weisenbeck

James J. Weisenbeck, age 80 of Durand,

Born: October 1, 1927

Died: April 20, 2008 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand.

James in the Town of Maxville, Buffalo County at home in Weisenbeck Valley. He was the son of John and Irene (Weissinger) Weisenbeck. Jim attended Burnside Elementary School and St. Mary’s School. After schooling, he stayed home to help his father farm.

On November 14, 1950, Jim married Elaine Thompson at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Durand. Jim continued to farm after marriage. Jim was a hard working dedicated farmer and took great pride in his farm and planting and harvesting his crops. He was very meticulous and always had a plan when it came to planting, crop rotation and contouring. He was always interested in new farming equipment and driving a tractor or sitting in a combine brought him great joy.

In 1988, Jim and Elaine built a new home at Chippewa River Heights and Jim continued to go to the farm until he started having health problem. He loved to spend time outdoors and his passion continued after retirement with gardening and yard work. Jim also enjoyed a good card game with family and friends.

Though farming was his passion, the greatest love and pride of his life was his life long partner and his family. He will be sadly missed by family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife Elaine, one daughter Rose (Herb) Pelke of Durand, three sons, Donald (Sally) of Durand, Steven (Diane) of Alma, James L. (Special Friend, Jill Poeschel) of Mondovi, 14 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, two sisters, Carol Broberg of Rock Falls and Theresa Thompson of Menomonie. He is preceded in death by his parents and one son, David J. Weisenbeck.

Jim will be carried to his eternal resting place by his seven grandsons, Craig Weisenbeck, Hank Weisenbeck, Jake Weisenbeck, C.J. Weisenbeck, John Pelke, Jason Pelke and Joe Pelke.
