Arnold B Strehlau
Arnold B. Strehlau age 92 of Elk Mound, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013 in Menomonie with his family by his side.
Arnold was born on April 5, 1921 on the home farm in the Town of Red Cedar. He was the son of Bertram and Eva (Vehrs) Strehlau. Arnold grew up on the farm and attended Aggie. He farmed with his father in the Town of Red Cedar for a few years until buying his own farm in the Red Cedar Township, rural Elk Mound. On June 3, 1948, Arnold married Mary Knopps in Stillwater, MN. Together they farmed and raised their family. He also did custom silo filling for many years. Arnold retired from farming in 1988.
Arnold enjoyed small game hunting, deer hunting and fishing. He also liked to take fishing trips to Canada. Arnold enjoyed playing cards, especially with the neighborhood card club, watching the Packers, supporting his children's 4-H activities and attending his grandchildren's school activities. He was a past member of the 2 cylinder John Deere Club and he liked attending vintage tractor shows. Arnold and the family took many trips throughout the Midwest and California.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 65 years; Mary, seven children; Dean (Kathie) of Stillwater, MN, Daniel Sr. (Doris) of Elk Mound, Margaret (Roger) Hughes of Somerset, Nancy (Larry) Putman of Elk Mound, Arnold A. Strehlau of Elk Mound, Sally (John) Thompson of Menomonie and Carla (Joseph) Sumner of Eau Claire, 16 grandchildren; Lucas, Corinna, Jeremy, Jared, Catherine, Dan Jr., Tamara, Randy, Paul, Nikki, Lauri, Paul, Brittany, David, Justin and Tyler, 23 great grandchildren, two brothers; Ervin (Bernadine) of Menomonie and Gordon (Sharon) of Eau Claire, one sister; Phyllis Steinke of Chippewa Falls, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Virginia Philen, one niece; Connie Strehlau and a nephew; Patrick Philen Jr.
