Lois V Bauer
Lois V. Bauer went into the loving arms of God surrounded by family on May 23, 2013. She had a brief but peaceful struggle with cancer.
Lois was born on November 11, 1930 to Edward L. and Margaret (Webb) Bauer at home in Durand, WI. She grew up primarily on the family farm in the Town of Lima. She graduated from Holy Rosary High School. She met and married her best friend Lewis (Lud) Bauer on May 30, 1950. Lois always said she could not have found a better husband or father for their three children.
Lois was a terrific homemaker, but also worked for thirty years as the Administrative Assistant for the Pepin County Nursing Office.
The things Lois most appreciated were: Faith in God; good health; a loving caring husband; her boys, their spouses, her grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; family and friends, leisure time, quiet times, morning sunrises, comfortable home, the values instilled by her parents.
In addition to her family and work obligations, Lois served countless others through her volunteerism. Lois received the first ever "Woman of Light" award for St. Mary's Assumption Parish for her dedication to service in 2000. Her family was the first host home for the AFS program which brought the first international student to Durand High School in 1969. She and Lud were committed to the Love of Life Program and completed countless pre-marriage inventories. She served on numerous committees and boards over the years.
Faith was her strongest virtue as it served as her beacon through her journey of life. Next to her faith came family. Lois was the happiest when she was surrounded by family. She took great joy in hosting family holiday meals and reunions.
Lois is survived by her husband of 63 years, Lud and their three sons, Terry (Shari Puyleart and daughter Alexis) of Onalaska, his sons, Brooks (Melissa) and children, Mason and Ian, son; Mitch (Karri) and children, Piper, Parker, Paxton, and Preston; daughters Brittany, Nicole, and Heather. Son: Tom (Julie) of Eau Claire, and their sons Matt, Joe, and Jacob. Son: Dennis (Kathy) of Eau Claire, and their children Grant (Roxanne), Kelsie (Chris) Beckfield. Lois' brothers, Donald (Irma), Norman (Patricia), Gerald M. (Toni), and one sister Rheta. Lois also leaves behind a number of other in-laws, nieces, and nephews.
The family would like to send special acknowledgement to Pat and Patty Bauer and daughter Cindy for their care, compassion, commitment and prayers to making sure Lois was comfortable.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother-in-law Tony Brunner.
