Bruce D Prissel
Bruce D. Prissel, age 84 of Durand, died Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire, with his family by his side.
Bruce was born on March 25, 1929. He was the son of Fredrick and Henrietta "Betty" (Bien) Prissel. Bruce grew up in the Town of Lima in rural Pepin County. He attended and graduated from Sacred Heart School in Lima. After School, Bruce joined the U.S. Army and served on a demolition crew in Korea. He was Honorably Discharged in 1952. Bruce married Patricia Komro on July 6, 1953 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima. After marriage, they moved to Vancouver, Washington, where Bruce worked for the State of Washington Forestry Dept. for a couple of years before moving back to Durand. They purchased a farm on Highway 85 where they farmed and raised their family.
Bruce liked to fish, play cards, hunt and watching western movies. Most of all, Bruce loved to spend time with family and friends.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 59 years; Patricia, children; Gary (Karen) of Mondovi, Greg (Kathy) of Eau Claire, Sonja (Paul) Hanson of Dresser, Tamara (Henry) Zold of Menomonie, Tina (Kevin) Hampton of Eau Claire, Todd (Jen) of Ellsworth, Dawn (Steve) Thompson of Ft. Wayne, IA, 16 grandchildren; Chad, Danny, Eric, Stacy, Tyler, Sam, Allie, Angela, Michelle, Henry Jr., Courtney, Patrick, Ashley, Payton, Cody and Tucker, seven great grandchildren, two brothers, Roger (Helen) and Dennis (Audrey), both of Durand, one sister; Juanita of Eau Claire, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son; Patrick, one brother; Gene and one sister; Lorraine Teer.
