Galen M Coulson

Galen M. Coulson, age 86 of Chippewa Falls, formerly of Durand, died Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at the Wissota Health Care and Regional Vent Center in Chippewa Falls.

Galen was born on November 9, 1926 in the Town of Salem, rural Plum City. He was the son of Edward and Ruth (Sand) Coulson. He grew up in the Plum City area and was drafted into the U.S. Navy in February of 1945. Galen served during WWII aboard the USS Markab in the Pacific Theatre and he was honorably discharged. Galen married Arline Coaty on October 26, 1948 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Durand and spent 61 years together. Galen was a charter member of Faith Lutheran Church and helped in the construction of the church. He worked at the John Deere Implement for over 40 years as a mechanic and service manager.

In retirement, Galen and Arline spent winters in Arizona and Florida and summers at their home on the Chippewa Flowage in Hayward. He was always tinkering and improving things around the house to make them "better." Galen enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his grandchildren.

Galen is survived by his sons; Scott (Judy) of Chippewa Falls and Gary (Diane) of Lakeville, MN, five grandchildren; Chad (Melissa) Coulson, Lisa (Michael) Rufledt, Kyle (Christina) Coulson, Jenna Coulson and Michael Coulson, nine great grandchildren; Haylee, Nathan, Madysen, Steven, Kathryn, Jonathan and Kerralynn Coulson, Andrew and Logan Rufledt, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife; Arline, two brothers; Keith in infancy and Bernard, one twin sister; Cleo Krings.
