William C "Bill" Wolf
William C. "Bill" Wolf, age 81 of Durand, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand, with his family by his side.
Bill was born on October 6, 1931 in Durand. He was the son of William E. and Blanche C. (Fox) Wolf. He grew up in Durand and graduated from Durand High School in 1949. Bill attended the University of St. Thomas and graduated in 1953 with a B.A. in Business Administration. After college, Bill commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Air Force and served in England. On October 13, 1962, Bill married his love- Carol M. Bauer and together they raised four children. Bill joined his father in the family business, “Wolf's Clothing” in Durand. He took great pride in continuing the family business, which recently celebrated 109 years. He was a business owner who was active in the community: Durand Commercial Club, Knights of Columbus and Durand American Legion Post #181, until his retirement in 1986.
Bill was a sincere and proud man with a sharp and inquisitive mind, an undying spirit of adventure, and an appreciation for all of nature’s wonders big and small. Bill's love and respect of nature began as a youth, fishing on the banks of the Chippewa River, and continued into his adolescence, traveling to the mountains of Montana where he worked summers at St. Mary's Lodge in Glacier National Park. He enjoyed traveling near and far. From his cabin on Lake Eau Claire, to Montana, to England, and the countless trips with Carol throughout their marriage, his adventures were many. His legacy will live on through his stories of those adventures, and all who took the time to listen.
Bill is survived by his children; Susan Wolf of Durand, Mary (Craig) Johanns of Eagan, MN, William M. "Bill" (Kandy) of Gig Harbor, WA and Karl (Jess) of Minneapolis, MN, seven grandchildren; Lindsey, Luke, William I., Samuel, Elijah, Olivia and August, one sister; Rose Marie (Ray) Blanchard of Durand, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife- Carol, and one brother- Robert J. Wolf.
