Isabel K Berger
Isabel K. Berger age 85 of Eau Claire, formerly of Elk Mound, died Thursday January 17, 2013 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
Isabel was born on February 11, 1927, at home in Town of Waterville, rural Arkansaw. She was the daughter of William and Bessie (LaPean) Keeler and graduated from Arkansaw High School in 1945. Isabel married Clarence J. Berger on October 9, 1945 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Arkansaw. After marriage they farmed most of their lives in Dunn and Pierce Counties. In 1961 they moved to the Elk Mound area and in 1963 they bought a small farm. In 1983 they moved into the Village of Elk Mound and in 2002 they moved to Eau Claire where they remained the rest of their lives.
Isabel was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Elk Mound. She also enjoyed doing puzzles, playing cards and craftwork.
Isabel is survived by 17 children, seven daughters: Marcia Rhodes of Baldwin; Marlys (Curt) Wicklund, Eau Claire; Diane (Mike) Krultz, Medford; Mary (Tim) Boortz, Osseo; Kathy (Bernie) Heit, Cottage Grove; Karen (Mark) Berger-Nolte, Mundelein, IL; Peggy (David) Moore, Summerville, SC, 10 sons: Dan (Susun), Templeton, CA; John (Debi) Waukee, IA; Jerry (Renee), St. Croix Falls; Gary (Cindy), Horicon; Larry (Shannon), Elk Mound; Chuck (Sue), Marshfield; Ron (Sue), Chippewa Falls; Michael (Teri), Louisville, TN; Patrick (Sandra), Somonauk, IL; Jeff (Jennifer), Eau Claire; 52 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren; two brothers, William (Jane) Keeler of Arkansaw; Bernard ( Doris Fuller) Keeler of Red Wing, MN; two step brothers, Warren (Lorraine) Patnode of Durand; Giles (Marge) Patnode of Brooklyn Park, MN; two step sisters, Gwelda Glaus of Durand; Fern (Gene) Ingalls of Remer, MN; a sister-in-law, Evelyn Keeler of Rosemount, MN; and many extended family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Clarence in 2009, an infant granddaughter, Kristin Berger, an infant great-grandson, Alexander Wicklund, a brother, Phil Keeler and three sisters, Ruth Klein, Mildred Berger, and Margaret “Peg” Glaus, half sister, Marie Ingalls, step father, Wilford Patnode.
