Galen W Todd
Galen W. Todd age 97 of Eau Galle, died peacefully on Friday December 28, 2012 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.
Galen was born February 18, 1915 in the Township of Eau Galle, Dunn County. He was the son of Clarence and Amelia (Schrader) Todd. Galen grew up on the family farm in the Eau Galle community. He attended elementary school in Eau Galle and two years of high school were at Arkansaw. As young man, he helped farm with his family and worked out on various farms in the area. Galen married Evelyn Kelm October 23, 1934 in Plum City and were one month shy of their 75th wedding anniversary upon Evelyn’s death in 2010. After marriage they raised their son Leonard, and later with Leonard’s wife Geri, continued farming together in Eau Galle all their lives. For the past four years Galen has been a resident of the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood. Galen's passion was farming, even driving tractor into his early nineties. He also did custom farm work in the area for various neighbors. Galen worked for the Durand Canning Company as field foreman for several years. He enjoyed playing on the dart ball league, traveling, wintering in Arizona, playing cards, spending time with family and friends.
Galen is survived by his son Leonard (Geri) of Eau Galle; four grandchildren, Tammy Baier of Eau Galle; Gerilen (Bill) Anderson of Baldwin; Traci (Richard) White of Menomonie; Ty(Kathy) Todd of Elmwood; 15 great grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; a sister, Esther Steinke of Menomonie; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife Evelyn.
