Thomas E "Tom" Neis
Thomas E. “Tom” Neis, age 83, of Durand, passed away on Thursday, December 13th, 2012, at Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire due to complications from a major heart surgery.
Tom was born October 5, 1929, in Eau Claire to Cletus and Eileen (Brown) Neis. Tom grew up with many brothers and sisters in the Mondovi area. He met Carol Koller and they spent over 63 years together in marriage. He enjoyed his work as an International Harvester dealer, owning and operating Koller & Company Inc. for 47 years while managing his farms.
Tom loved people, he talked to everyone and made friends anywhere he went. He was always good for gentle and kind words and a lengthy story he thought you would surely enjoy. He enjoyed spending time in Arizona, hunting, fishing, animals and his farm. The past few years of his life he loved getting up every morning and going to the farm. Most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with friends and family, especially his granddaughter Brittny who he helped raise and was like a father to.
He is survived by his wife Carol; his granddaughter, Brittny Neis; siblings, Donald (Pricilla) Neis of Racine, Jack Neis of Independence, Lois (William) Lawko of Cleveland, OH, Phyllis (Arvid) Thompson of Eau Claire; and many other loving relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents; son, Gregg Neis; siblings, Duane Neis, Virgil Neis, and Maxine Boyd.
