Donald H "Don" Boigenzahn

Donald Hubert "Don" Boigenzahn age 79 of Durand, died Sunday, December 9, 2012 due to unknown heart complications at the Chippewa Valley Hospital.

Don was born on October 21, 1933 in the Town of Canton, rural Buffalo County. He was the son of Edmund and Lucy (Bauer) Boigenzahn. He lived his childhood in the Durand, Menomonie and Spring Valley Areas. Don joined the U.S Army Reserves in 1952 and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1956. He served in Germany before being honorably discharged in 1958. Don married Charlotte Sweeney on May 9, 1959 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Eau Galle. After marriage, Don and Charlotte lived in Durand, where they raised their family and Don worked at the Koller & Company for over 40 years as a mechanic.

Don helped many farmers by fixing their equipments on weekends and late nights. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, playing cards, camping and watching Packer games. Most of all he loved spending time with family and friends.

Don is survived by his wife of 53 years, Charlotte, three children; Gordy (Teresa Phelan) of Arkansaw, Denny (Tara) and Rhonda (Gary) Bauer, both of Durand, 10 grandchildren; Logan (Fiancé Shaynah Cudsworth), Marshall and Marissa Boigenzahn, Ryan, Brady, Nicholas, Gregory and Jackson Boigenzahn and Tyler and Kelsey Bauer, one great grandson; Aidan Boigenzahn, one sister-in-law; Peggy Boigenzahn of Red Wing, MN, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, two infant granddaughters; Kacey and Mackenzie Bauer, one sister; Bernice Jesse and one brother; Edward.
