Keith C Hei

Keith Charles Hei age 86 of Durand, went to be with our Lord on Saturday October 6, 2012 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. Keith was born May 30, 1926 in Plum City, the son of Matt and Gladys (Seng) Hei. He grew up and went to school in Plum City. After school Keith went into the Army during WW II. After the service he came back to the Plum City area where he was a farmer and milk hauler. On June 11, 1955 he married Nancy Pedersen at St. John's Catholic Church in Plum City. To this union three children were born while they lived in Plum City. In the mid 1960's Keith moved his family to Durand. Keith became a truck driver. He drove many years for Dotseth Trucking in Knapp. While at Dotseth Keith received and award from Governor Thompson for driving one million miles accident free. Keith later went to work for Marten Transport of Mondovi. Keith retired from Marten Transport and was able to obtain an accident free career.

Keith enjoyed his retirement with fishing, hunting, playing cards and visiting with people. Family and friends always meant the most to him. Keith was an active member of the American Legion in Plum City for several years.

Keith is survived by his wife, Nancy. three children; Dennis (Virginia) of East Haddam, CT; Jerome (Sue) of Apple Valley, MN; Diane (Matthew) Helmueller of Menomonie; four grandchildren, Heather Duff of Bowling Green, OH; Rebecca Hei, Bradley (Jenifer) Helmueller and Lauren (Trevor) Tilseth all of Menomonie; one great granddaughter Gabriella Tilseth of Menomonie; four step grandchildren; six step great grandchildren; one step great-great grandson; one sister Carol (Ronald) Gritzmaker of Lake Elmo, MN; one brother Vernon Hei of Burnsville, MN; sisters-in-law, Clarabell Hei of Pinehurst, ID; Ann Hei of Glendale, AZ; Juanita Hei and Shirley Hei both of Prescott; one brother-in-law, Paul (Cheryl) Pedersen of Madison; many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers William, James, Edwin, Bernard, Eugene and Robert in infancy; two nieces, Mary and Stacy Hei; a great niece, Jennifer Mitchell.

A special thank you to the Dunn County Health Care Center and staff for making Keith's last few months the best and to Fr. Tom Krieg of St. Joseph's in Menomonie for his blessings and prayers while Keith was in the Dunn Co. Health Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Thursday October 11, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church in Plum City with Rev. Paul Czerwonka officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery at a later date. Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.
