August E. Meyer Jr., age 69 of Barron, formerly of Plum City,

Died: March 10, 2008 at the Barron Health Care and Rehabilitation Center in Barron surrounded by family.
August was the son of August and Coral (Anderson) he was born in Hastings, MN and grew up in Goodhue, MN. He graduated from Goodhue High School. August married JoAnne Emerson August 29, 1959 in Red Wing, MN. After marriage he worked road construction until 1968. August farmed in rural Plum City from 1968 to 1999, retiring due to ill health. They then moved to Menomonie and in 2002 he moved to Barron, where he remained the rest of his life. August’s wife JoAnne passed away in May of 2002.
August was a gentle man who focused on his family. He enjoyed teaching his children, grandchildren and sons-in-law to water-ski. He spent a lot of time with his family camping and playing cards. He also enjoyed a cup of coffee with his neighbors.
August is survived by five daughters, Debbie (Jeff) Gilles of Fall Creek, Shelley (Darren) Bjugstad of Barron, Jodi Eike and Paula (Ron) Bates, both of Hudson, Angela (Mark) Weiser of Wisconsin Dells, two sons, Ronald Meyer of Blue Earth, MN and Richard Meyer of New Richmond, a son-in-law, Gene Eike of Hudson, 20 grandchildren, two brothers Gerald (Linda) and Eugene (Paulette) one sister, Lila (David) Gamez, two brothers-in-law, Dennis (Kae) Emerson and Calvin (Jackie) Emerson and a sister-in-law, Marlene Emerson. He is preceded in death by his parents Coral and August Sr., his wife JoAnne, mother-in-law and father-in-law, Nora and William Emerson, and brother-in-law, Dale Emerson.
