Eunice N Metling
Eunice N. Metling age 97 of Menomonie,
Died Saturday September 8, 2012 at the American Lutheran Home in Menomonie.
Eunice was born November 7, 1914 in Cedar Falls. She was the daughter of Ralph and Elenora (Wing) Karns and grew up in the Cedar Falls community. Eunice graduated from Menomonie High School. She married Clarence Metling February 10, 1934 in Stillwater, MN. After marriage they made their home in Menomonie and raised their family. Later they moved to Somerset for a few years. After the death of her husband in 1968, Eunice later moved to Rochester, MN where she worked in the dining services for the Kahler Hotel until she retired. After retiring, Eunice moved to Owatonna, MN for several years before moving back to Menomonie in 1986 where she remained the rest of her life. For the past two and half years she has been a resident of American Lutheran Home. Eunice was an active member of Our Savior's Women, serving lunches, dinners, making lefsa and doing quilt work. She was a member of the Women of the Moose and served as Chaplain. Eunice also enjoyed crocheting and various craft work, but mostly she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Eunice is survived by her two daughters, Barbara Brensdal of Moore, OK; Patricia Hansen of Arvada, CO; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Karns-Clausen of Racine; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clarence, one son Billy; two grandsons, Danny Brensdal and Michael Hansen; five sisters, Lois Wilcox, Josephine Hilmanowske, Sade Hovind, Bess Vehrs, Lottie Weier, and one brother, Morris Karns.
