Lula Bell DeLong
Lula Bell DeLong, age 99 of Elmwood, died Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Heritage of Elmwood Nursing Home in Elmwood.
Lula was born on June 30, 1913 in the Town of Weston, rural Dunn County. She was the daughter of Edward and Emma (Drail) Bundy. Lula grew up in the Weston area and attended Nippersink Country School. Lula married Joseph DeLong on November 11, 1933. After marriage, they lived on a farm at Farm Hill, where they farmed and raised their family. On October 30, 1940, they moved into the Village of Elmwood. Joe passed away on June 16, 1944. Lula worked at Rayette Casements and the Post Office for one year and at West Publishing CO. for 14 years in St. Paul.
Lula loved flowers and working on her garden. She raised pigs, chickens and enjoyed canning. Most of all, Lula loved spending time with family and friends.
Lula is survived by her three children; James (Jeanne) of Siren, Elaine (Ron) Jensen of St. Paul, MN and Kenneth (Doris) of Elmwood, three grandchildren; Jack (Cindy), Donald (Chris), Steven (Kay), five great grandchildren, four great great granddaughters, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She preceded in death by her parents, husband; Joseph, two grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters.
