Marian L Boughton
Marian Leona (Curry) Boughton, age 90, passed away on August 3, 2012 at the Dunn County Health Care Center, in Menomonie, where she had been a resident since 2010.
Marian was born on October 18, 1921 in Brandt, South Dakota to Raymond and Ruth (Norman) Curry. When she was 6 years old her family moved to Ohio, where they lived until they moved to Menomonie when Marian was in the eighth grade. Marian graduated from Menomonie High School in 1939. After high school she attended Dunn County Normal. Marian married the love of her life, Glen Boughton on August 31, 1940 at St. Joseph’s Rectory, Menomonie.
During WWII, Marian worked at the defense plant in Eau Claire. She also worked alongside her husband, Glen on the family farm by Colfax. Marian had also worked at Fabritech in Eau Claire and worked for many years in the insurance department at the Red Cedar Clinic.
After retirement Marian and Glen were snowbirds in Arizona for many years. After her husband’s death, Marian loved to travel and went on many cruises and bus trips. One she especially enjoyed was an Alaskan cruise.
Marian was a member of 3005 HCE (Tainter Homemakers) for over 55 years. She also had enjoyed bowling at Colfax for many years. She also played organ for church services at New Hope Catholic Church in Colfax, and was a past member and vice-president of the Merry Mixers in Colfax. Marian for many years had been a 4-H leader for Joint District 3 later renamed Cozy Corners 4-H club.
While a resident at the health care center Marian enjoyed being a bell ringer, playing bingo and many other activities. She was an avid Green Bay Packer fan and loved to watch the games. Marian had a collection of over 100 bears. She had enjoyed bowling at Colfax for many years. Marian enjoyed playing cards and was always up to a lively game of Yahtzee.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband Glen, her parents, her brother, Conrad Curry, her sister and brother-in-law Waneta and Cub Schillinger, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Marian is survived by her son, Raymond “Skip” (Judy) Boughton of Ontonagon, Michigan, 2 daughters; Mary Lou (Clint) Rudesill of Montello, Rita (Marshall) Traxler, Boyceville; eight grandchildren, Julie (Fred) Dahlke, Brian (Cherie) Rudesill, Barry (Maria) Rudesill, Jeremiah (Katie) Boughton, Eric Traxler, Patrick Boughton, Jason (Jessica) Traxler, Tammy (Trent) Wittmer, and 14 great-grandchildren and her niece, nephews, and many cousins.
