Bernard A Schuler
Bernard A. Schuler age 92 of Menomonie, formerly of Elmwood, died Monday July 16, 2012 at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie. Bernard was born July 2, 1920 in Elmwood. He was the son of Anthony and Mary (Fesenmaier) Schuler. Bernie grew up in Elmwood, graduating from Elmwood High School in 1938. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and served in the Pacific Theater of WW II and was awarded two Purple Hearts. After the service Bernie returned to Elmwood where he married Virginia R. Traynor September 27, 1945. After marriage they lived in Spring Valley for a few years before moving to Elmwood where they lived and raised their family. Bernie joined his father in the Schuler Insurance Business which he later owned and operated with his brother, Bob and is now operated by Bernie’s son, Dan, and grandson, Brent. After 40 years in Elmwood, Bernie and Ginnie enjoyed their retirement at their lake home in Birchwood and their winters in Arizona.
Bernie is survived by two sons, Dan (Jan) of Elmwood; Jon (Arlene) of Wheeler; three grandchildren, Brent (Lisa) Schuler of Menomonie; Amy Schuler of Madison; Jenny Schuler of Winona; a great granddaughter; Addison K. Schuler of Menomonie.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife Virginia "Ginny" in 2010; a brother Robert; two sisters, Sr. Lucilla Schuler and Mary Lou Carlisle.
