Willa B Lammer
Willa B. Lammer, age 84 of Menomonie, died Monday, July 2, 2012 at the Comforts of Home in Menomonie under the care of Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Home Hospice.
Willa was born on April 22, 1928 in Council Bluffs, IA. She was the daughter of Allan and Willetta (Hatfield) Rayburn. Willa grew up in New Ulm, MN, St. Paul, MN and attended high school in St. Croix Falls. After high school, Willa went to college at UW-Stout where she earned a degree in Home economics with specialty in Dietetics. She taught Home Economics at UW Stout for a short time. Willa married John F. Lammer on June 27, 1949 in Menomonie at St. Joseph's Church. After marriage, Willa and John raised their family in Menomonie.
Willa was a very private, gracious lady who with her husband of 54 years raised seven children. She was always involved with her children's activities as they were growing up. Willa was a Girl Scout Leader for many years, a volunteer at St. Joseph's Church, a member of AAUW and a board member for the UW-Stout Foundation. Her interests included painting with watercolors, spending time with her grandchildren, reading, reading and more reading.
Willa is survived by her six children; Lorrie (Dan) Jergensen of LaCresent, MN, Mike of Baldwin, Lucy (Fred Hollenbeck) Lammer, Patrick (Jayne) Lammer, Rebecca (Tom) Massey, all of Menomonie and Jennifer (Mike) Townsend of River Falls, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, two sisters; Janet Meier of Sun Prairie and Cynthia Wise of Toledo, OH., nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband John; daughter Lynn and one brother, Donald Rayburn.
