Richard A "Dick" Kremer
Richard A. "Dick" Kremer, age 82 of Durand, died peacefully on Saturday, June 9, 2012 at the Dove Health Care Center-West in Eau Claire, with his family at his side.
Dick was born on November 19, 1929 in Eau Claire. He was the son of Michael and Ruth (Ganong) Kremer. He grew up in Eau Claire and went to school there. At the age of 14, Dick started his working career shoveling coal at the train depot in Eau Claire. In 1950 Dick joined the U.S. Army and served as a cook and was stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged in 1953. Dick married Juanita Prissel on November 25, 1952 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima. After marriage, Dick managed the Farmer's Store and he worked for 22 years for Bunny Bread Bakery. In 1961, Dick bought a farm in the Town of Peru near Rock Falls and farmed there until 1985. Dick and Juanita moved to Vancouver, WA where he managed a paving company until retiring in 1995 when they moved to Mesa, AZ. In 2007, Dick and Juanita moved back to Durand, where he remained the rest of his life.
Dick was an avid golfer, a member of the American Legion and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Dick is survived by his wife of 59 years, Juanita, four children; Toni (Bob) Lippert of Phoenix, AZ, Sue (Don) Blair of Ft. Mitchell, KY, Bob (Sheri) of Jim Falls and Bernie (Mike) McIntyre, eight foster children, 12 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, two sisters; Anna Mae (Gene) Grengs of Eau Claire and Nancy (Morris) Kohlepp of Minneapolis, MN, nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother in infancy.
