Robert J. "Bob" Prissel Jr
Robert J. "Bob" Prissel Jr. age 79 of Durand, died Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand.
Bob was born on June 8, 1932 on the Prissel family farm in the Lima Township, rural Durand. He was the son of Rob Sr. and Martha (Kohlman) Prissel. Bob grew up in the Lima area and graduated from Sacred Heart Schools in 1950. After high school, Bob entered the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for two years and was honorably discharged. After returning home, Bob worked for Bauer Built in Durand. Bob married Dorothy Norrish on April 24, 1956 in Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima. After marriage, Bob became the Standard Oil Agent for the Durand area for many years. Bob worked as a rural mail carrier for the Durand area until he retired in 1994. Bob was a member of the Durand Fire Department for 33 years and worked at the Rhiel Funeral Home in his retirement for many years.
Bob was an avid softball player; he enjoyed playing for Club 10 for many years. He loved bowling, playing cards, hunting, fishing, umpiring baseball and softball games, watching sports on TV, but most of all he loved going to watch his children and grandchildren’s sporting events. Bob was a longtime member of St. Mary's Church in Durand as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Bob is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy, eight children; Rosan Prissel of Durand, Becky (Steve) Williamson of Mondovi, Barb (Jim) Henry of Hudson, Jane (Dave) Fedie of Zimmerman, MN, Tony (Michelle) of Ellsworth, Teresa (Joe) Wolf of Elmwood, Todd (Ann) of Durand and Rob III (Cindy) of Eau Galle, 26 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two sisters; Pauline (Pete) Petersdorff of Westfield and Betty (Vern) Anderson of Aitkin, MN, sisters-in-law; Sharon Prissel and Darlene Bauer, both of Durand, two brothers-in-law, Lowell (Elaine) Norrish of Mondovi and Dennis (Cherilyn) of Rock Falls, three aunts; Julie (Ray) Selz of Eau Galle, Beats Kohlman of Durand and Cecelia Bauer of Mondovi, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother; Leon Prissel and one brother-in-law; Ralph Bauer.
