Earl K Ahlers
Earl K. Ahlers, age 53 of Maiden Rock, died suddenly at the Fairview Medical Center in Red Wing, MN due to heart problems.
Earl was born on July 27, 1958 in Wabasha, MN. He was the son of Herman and Betty (Lamey) Ahlers. Earl grew up in the Wabasha and Pepin area and graduated from Pepin High School. After school, Earl did some farming for people in the area and was an over the road truck driver. Earl married Dawn Anderson and they later divorced. Earl later married Connie Bauer on September 20, 1986 in Arkansaw. They moved to the Maiden Rock area, where Earl continued to drive truck and farm the rest of his life.
Earl enjoyed working with the animals on his hobby farm, sharing a good laugh, collecting old cars, playing cards and he was always willing to help whenever he was asked. Most of all, Earl loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his children.
Earl is survived by his wife, Connie, four children; Kaitlyn and Candace, both at home, Miranda Ahlers and Eric Ahlers, both of Eau Claire, his father; Herman of Blue River, five brothers; Richard (Irene) of Red Wing, MN, Steve (Joy) of Lake City, MN, Tony (Paula) of Wisconsin Dells, Paul and (Tam) of Lake City, MN and Lenny (Vicky) of River Falls, five sisters; Kathy (Larry) Westberg of Pepin, Bonnie (Steve) Fedie of Holmen, LuAnn (Randy) Hayden of Durand, Jeanette (Chris) Bartley of Bloomington, IL and Jean Hill of Red Wing, MN, father and mother-in-law; Bernard "Bud" and Joan Bauer of Arkansaw, brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his mother; Betty, one nephew; Noah Weinshrott and one niece; Cheryl Ahlers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, March 28, 2012 at St. John's Catholic Church in Plum City. Rev. Paul G. Czerwonka will officiate. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery in Arkansaw. Friends may call from 4-8 PM Tuesday at the Rhiel Funeral Home in Durand and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday.
