Philip J. Komro, age 93 of Durand, died Saturday, March 17, 2012 at the Plum City Care Center in Plum City.

Phil was born on August 18, 1918 in the Albany Township on the family farm. He was the son of John and Dora (Bauer). Phil grew up in the Albany Township area and attended Sacred Heart School in Lima. Phil took over the family farm in Albany Township. Phil married Marian Spindler on June 21, 1938 in Durand. After marriage they continued to farm in the Albany Township, where they raised their eight children. Phil farmed his entire life until he was physically unable to do so. For the last three years Phil has been a resident of the Plum City Care Center.

Phil loved to play cards, do puzzles, bird watching, wood working, crafts and gardening, especially his berry patch. Later in life Phil spent 18 years loving and caring for his wife, Marian after she became ill, as well as volunteering for others, especially the Amish. Most of all, Phil loved to spend time with family and friends.

Phil is survived by his children, Kenneth of Eau Claire, Ron (Joanne) and Darrell (Glenda), both of Durand, five daughters, Marjorie Traun of Durand, Phyllis (David) Kannel of Roberts, Kathy (Miland) Bloom of Mondovi, Yvonne (Leonard) Cronin of Rochester, MN and Rita (Robert) Schilling of Shell Lake, 38 grandchildren, 56 great grandchildren, 8 great great grandchildren, one sister, Irene Schuh of Rock Falls, one sister-in-law, Lorraine Komro of Durand, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marian, three grandchildren, one son-in-law, James Traun, one daughter-in-law, Sandra Kay Komro, one brother, William, six sisters, Rosalie Komro in infancy, Helen Bauer, Annabel Fedie, Florence Bauer, Clara Schuh and Marian Bauer.
