Loretta C Meixner
Loretta C. Meixner age 89 of Durand, died Wednesday, February 15, 2012 at the Oakview Care Center in Durand.
Loretta was born on September 19, 1922 on the home farm in the Town of Lima, rural Durand. She was the daughter of Ambrose and Mae (Schuch) Bauer. She grew up in the Town of Lima and attended Holy Rosary School in Lima. Loretta married Arnold J. Meixner on April 14, 1942 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Lima. After marriage, they lived on a farm in Little Arkansaw Valley until 1954, when they moved to the Village of Arkansaw. Loretta worked for 12 years at the Durand Canning Factory during the canning season and 27 years for the Arkansaw School District as a cook and food manager, retiring in 1991. Her husband Arnold passed away in 1991. For the last six months, Loretta has been a resident of the Oakview Care Center in Durand.
Loretta enjoyed fishing, gardening and making quilts for her children and grandchildren.
Loretta is survived by her children, Jan (Denny) Brunner of Durand, Roger (Char) of Colfax, John (Barb) and Dennis (LuAnn), both of Arkansaw, 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, two brothers, Bernard (Darlene) Bauer and Norbert (Lois) Bauer, both of Durand, three sisters, Rosella Pickering of Durand, Lillian (Tom)Drier of Arkansaw and Arlinda (Ronald) Plumer of Holcombe, one sister-in-law, Bonnie Bauer of Durand, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Arnold, one son, Kenneth, three brothers, Raymond, Laverne and Lambert R. Bauer, one sister-in-law, Myrtle Bauer and brother-in-law, Harvey Pickering.
