Loren A Bauer

Loren A. Bauer age 61, of Durand, died suddenly of a heart attack on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at his home in rural Durand.

Loren was born on January 11, 1951, in Durand. He was the son of Fred R. and Margaret (Brunner) Bauer. He grew up in Durand and graduated from Durand High School in 1969. At age 13 Loren started his first band called The Diamonds, with his cousin Curt Weiss and friends, Dan Callan and Jim Kallstrom. They played at church festivals and 4-H Meetings. Loren attended Chippewa Valley Technical College and received his degree as a media specialist. He worked for the Eau Claire School District at Memorial High School, where he was loved and respected by faculty and staff for over 30 years. Loren married Tammy Johnson in 1989 in Eau Claire, they later divorced. Loren retired from Memorial High School in 2009.

Loren's love for music was inspired by his Uncle Gil who played and sang music at family gatherings when he was young. He received his first guitar when he was 11 and has loved and played music all of his life. Loren learned to play many instruments; he has written many songs and played at venues in the area touching many people with his music. He had a unique and natural talent for all aspects of music and loved to take "$10" guitars and make them sound like "$5000" guitars. Loren loved sharing his passion and talent for music with his children.

Loren is survived by his children, one son Ryan, twin daughters, Rachel and Bria, all of Mondovi, friend, Tammy Bauer of Mondovi, three brothers, Marvin (Glenda) of Durand, Dennis (Diane) of Gallatin Gateway, MT and Richard (Estella) of Durand, three sisters, Beverly (Roger) Forster of Littleton, CO, Shirley (Francis) Boigenzahn of Durand and Sharon (Jerry) Como, of Pendleton, OR, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents.
