Inez L Simmons
Inez L. Simmons age 93 of Menomonie passed away on Wednesday February 1, 2012 at Mayo Clinic Health System-Menomonie with her family at her side.
Inez was born August 1, 1918 to Frank and Ida (Wisner) Knopps, in Menomonie where she attended Hudson Road School and graduated from Menomonie High School. She was a lifelong resident of the Menomonie area. On January 30, 1937, Inez was united in marriage to William Simmons. They observed their 75th Wedding Anniversary on Monday January 30, 2012. Her favorite times were camping and fishing at their property near Minong. At home her gardens and flowers were her pride and joy. She also loved finding antiques, weaving rugs, and many other craft activities, and there was always time for a cup of coffee when friends dropped in.
Inez had a deep love and devotion to her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and most recently her great-great grandson, Weston.
She will be sadly missed by her husband of 75 years, William, her children, William (Clarice) of Sarona; Joan Hughes of Menomonie; Teresa (Gary) Schoenborn of Nekoosa; grandchildren, Thomas Simmons, Mary Beth (Jeff) Sand; John Simmons; Chuck (Jacqueline) Hughes; Dan (Jonda) Hughes; great grandchildren, Marcus (Ashley) Sand; Alizabeth Sand; Branigan (Jordan) Nilssen; Carter, Camron & Caileen Hughes; great-great grandson, Weston Nilssen.
Inez is preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law, Wayne Hughes, two brothers and one sister.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 Noon PM on Saturday February 4, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Menomonie with Rev. Thomas Krieg officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may call one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
