Evelyn A Heit
Evelyn Alice Heit, age 75 of Arkansaw died Thursday, December 22, 2011 at her home in Arkansaw with her family by her side. She died from a long battle with cancer and was very strong right to the end.
Evelyn was born on June 8, 1936 in Durand. She was the daughter of John and Mary (Karshbaum) Sabelko. Evelyn grew up in Lima and graduated from Holy Rosary Catholic School. She married Bernard Heit on June 10, 1958 at Holy Rosary Church in Lima. After marriage Evelyn and Bernard lived in various places before making a home in Pepin with their family. Evelyn was a very loving mother who enjoyed raising her family. In 1993, Evelyn moved to Arkansaw with Bernard after his retirement from teaching, where she remained the rest of her life.
Evelyn enjoyed her family very much and was a loving mother until the very end. She loved watching football, basketball, playing cards, camping, doing jigsaw puzzles, crocheting and doing puzzle books. Her family loved her homemade cooking, especially her pies, buns and homemade noodle soup. She loved this time of year and listening to Christmas music. What a wonderful celebration it must be in heaven for Christmas. God bless you, Mom. We will all miss you.
Evelyn is survived by her husband, Bernard; her children, Jeffrey (Laurie) Heit of Plum City; Bernard (Kathy) Heit of Cottage Grove, Cheryl (Dennis) Chamberlain of Verona; Shelly Heit of Eau Claire; Mark (Barb) Heit of Pepin; Nancy (Brian) O'Neill of Lake City, MN; Tim (Tricia) Heit of Elk Mound; and Donny Heit of Arkansaw; 20 grandchildren, two great grandchildren and one on the way; a sister, Iona Poeschel of Mondovi; a brother, Harold (Betty) Sabelko of Mondovi.
She is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Laura Hayden.
