Norma J Brion
Norma J. Brion, age 78 of Durand, died of a brain hemorrage on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems-Eau Claire surrounded by family.
Norma was born April 18, 1933 to Allie and Clara (Schuh) Bauer in Durand. She grew up in and attended school in the Durand area. Norma married Francis Brion on August 13, 1951 in Durand. They farmed in Canton township until they retired. They then moved to their lake house on Silver Birch Lake in Arkansaw. Recently, Norma has been a resident of the Lutheran Home in Mondovi.
Norma loved cooking, playing cards, and spending time visiting with family and friends. Norma was a devoted care provider for Francis the last 10 years of his life; she also volunteered at Arkansaw Elementary School, where the kids called her "Grandma Norma."
Norma is survived by her children, Michael (Rosy) of Durand, Ken (Brenda) of Nelson, Kathy (Larry) Becker of Mondovi, Judy (Jeff) Laehn of Gilmanton, Becky (Randy) Lindstrom of Durand, Robert (Kathy) of River Falls, Rod (Lynn) of Lewiston, MN, Richard (Patricia) of Lakeville, MN, Emmy (Brent) Bauer of Durand and Carol (Larry) Deetz of Mondovi, 28 grandchildren, 15 great grand children, three brothers, LaVerne (Carol) Bauer of Durand, Allen (Connie) Bauer of Nelson and Ben (Jan) Bauer of Durand, sisters, Geraldine (Clare) Brantner of Durand and Mary (Brad) Sie of Mondovi, two brothers-in-law, Perry Glaus of Cornell and Ken Weisenbeck of Pepin, one sister-in-law, Diane Bauer of Menomonie, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Francis, two stillborn children, her brother Galen Bauer, and sisters Margie Weisenbeck and Lola Glaus.
