Eileen B Berg
Eileen Barbara Berg age 84 of Menomonie, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday December 5, 2011, surrounded by her beloved family members.
Eileen Barbara Helstern was born October 22, 1927, to John and Anna (Lamatsch) Helstern in St. Paul, Minnesota. She grew up in Amery, Balsam Lake, and Milltown, graduating from Milltown High School in 1946. On Easter Monday, April 7, 1947, Eileen married Lloyd Raymond Berg at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Centuria.
In July of 1951, they moved to Menomonie where Lloyd worked for 33 years at the Dunn County News, while Eileen raised the couple’s five children. Eileen began working at the Menomonie Police Department in 1968, retiring in April of 1994.
Eileen Barbara Berg is survived by her five children: Clare Ann (Alan) Carlsen, Barrington Hills, IL; Judith Foust, Menomonie; Susan Herbach, Lehigh Acres, FL; Gary (Judy) Berg, St. Cloud, MN; and Karen (Todd) Moessner, Brooklyn Park, MN. She also leaves behind the seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren in whom she took much pride: Kristin (Jon) Meek, Anna and Ben; Erik (Nicole) Carlsen, Julia and Lauren; Jessica Nickelsen, Matthew; Jonathan (Petra Eweg) Herbach; Nathan Berg; and Stefanie and Mackenzie Moessner. In addition, Eileen is survived by a dear sister-in-law, Norma Helstern of Shell Lake, and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Eileen was preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, her parents, her three brothers, and her son-in-law Max Herbach.
Those who knew Eileen will remember her for her kindness, her loving nature, her sense of humor, her pride in her family, and her strong faith in God. Her legacy is the richness of unconditional love that she so readily shared with all who knew her.
