Robert L Griffith
Robert Lynn Griffith age 89 of Menomonie,
Died: Wednesday September 14, 2011 at Sacred Heart Hospital in Eau Claire.
Bob was born August 19, 1922 in Moline, IL the son of Jesse Lynn and Elsie (Douglas) Griffith. As a young child he moved with his family to Madison, WI and graduated from Madison East High School. Bob attended the University of Wisconsin Madison for a year and a half before entering the service. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WW II as a Pilot flying B17’s. During the war, Bob received the Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross. After the service he returned to Madison and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison with a B.S. Degree in Engineering. Bob started his career in Fond du Lac where he worked for an engineering firm for 15 years. He married Donna Azzalino June 11, 1955. Bob also worked for Giddings & Lewis in Iowa and worked on projects in Italy for several years. After retirement, Bon and Donna moved to Menomonie, Township of Tainter, where he has remained the rest of his life. Bob loved to be outdoors; he enjoyed fishing, bird watching, traveling, reading, and was an avid Packer Fan. Mostly Bob enjoyed spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by his wife, Donna; two sons, Michael (Karen) of Farmington, MN; David (Deb) of Eagan, MN; four grandchildren, Sara & Natalie of Farmington, MN; Andrew & Nicholas of Eagan, MN; several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Virginia Taubert and Cora Grace Johnson; one brother, William Griffith.
