Mina J Gilles
Mina J. Gilles age 87 of Plum City, died Monday, August 15, 2011 at the Chippewa Valley Hospital in Durand with her family by her side.
Mina was born on September 21, 1923 in Arkansaw. She was the daughter of Jim and Blanch (Myers) Sweeney. Mina grew up in Arkansaw and graduated from Arkansaw High School in 1942. After school, Mina married Marvin Gilles on November 10, 1942 at St. Joseph’s Church in Arkansaw. Mina and Marvin were lifetime farmers of the Plum City area, where they also raised their family. In 2008 they moved off the farm into Plum City.
Mina was a fantastic cook and baker, she always made the best cookies. She also enjoyed knitting and making quilts and afghans. Mina loved to dance and play cards. Most of all, Mina loved spending time with her family and friends.
Mina is survived by her husband of 69 years, Marvin, two daughters, Marcia (John) Paulbick of St. Paul, MN and Madrene (Neil) Nitzkowski of Belle Vista, AR and two sons, Kent (Diane) of Plum City and Brad of Cathedral City, CA, 12 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, one sister, Joan (Ed) Seiverwright of Citrus Heights, CA, one aunt, Helen Myers of Whitehall, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, one son, Scott, two great grandsons, Keegan and Garrett Roach, two brothers, Jack and Scott Sweeney.
