Raymond F "Sicky" Bauer
Raymond F. “Sicky” Bauer age 79 of Durand, died Wednesday, July 20, 2011 at his home in the Town of Lima, rural Durand, surrounded by his loving family.
Sicky was born on August 14, 1931 in Durand. He was the son of William V. and Hilda M. (Bauer) Bauer. He grew up on the family farm in Lima and attended Sacred Heart School. Sicky joined the U.S. Army in 1953 and served Stateside during the Korean War as a Supply Clerk. Sicky married Karen Kraft on September 27, 1958 at St. Mary’s in Durand. Sicky worked various jobs in the area, but mainly on the family farm with his father. He later took over and ran the family farm until he retired.
Farming was everything to Sicky and he lived on the family farm all of his life. He was an avid hunter. He loved playing baseball, softball, basketball, football, golfing and he was a very good bowler. Sicky liked to play cards, especially with his card group. Most of all, Sicky loved to spend time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Sicky is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen, his children, Kyle (Monica) of Humble, TX, Kelly (Dave) Remes of Eau Claire, Kris (Jill) and Korey, both of Durand, seven grandchildren Ashley, Raymond, Zachary, Rachel, Brooke, Christian and Anthony, four sisters, Loretta (Ray) Poeschel of Durand, Bonnie Bauer of Santa Anna, CA, Betty (Rex) Schuffler of Carlsbad, CA and Ardy (Mike) Parish of Minneapolis, MN, one brother Giles “Putter” (Bea) Bauer of Durand, one sister-in-law, Dolly Bauer of Durand, one brother-in-law, William C. Wolf of Durand, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, one son Kurtis, one brother, Eugene “Gene” Bauer and one sister Carol Wolf.
Sicky was faith filled, everybody’s friend, a simple man, a fun-loving man, a family man, kind hearted and very generous.
